$30,000 in scholarships to be awarded during STEM Signing Day

A total of $30,000 in scholarships will be awarded, and 30 high school students from across Missouri will be recognized on STEM Signing Day as they commit to studying science, technology, engineering, or math in college this fall.

The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) and the Missouri Chamber of Commerce will honor the students from noon-2 p.m. April 26 at the St. Louis Science Center as they celebrate earning a $1,000 Missouri STEM Signing Day Scholarship.

“STEM occupations are some of the top in-demand jobs in Missouri and are projected to remain that way across multiple professions for the next several years,” said Dr. Bennett Boggs, Commissioner of MDHEWD. “MDHEWD is proud to partner with the Missouri Chamber to honor these students and provide them support in pursuing a STEM career.”

Family members, education organizations, STEM professionals, and STEM businesses can register to attend the free event at mochamber.com/.

The event will feature a keynote speaker, remarks by dignitaries, and a signing ceremony to recognize each student. A reception will follow.

To apply for a STEM Signing Day Scholarship, students submitted applications on MyScholarship Central in March, and finalists provided a brief video explaining what inspires them to pursue a STEM career pathway.

Representatives from MDHEWD, the Missouri Chamber, the Boeing Company, Orscheln Industries, and other corporate sponsors selected scholarship winners this month based on the student’s passion for a STEM career pathway.

The Missouri Chamber Foundation’s Missouri Mathematics and Science Coalition launched Missouri STEM Signing Day in 2019 to raise awareness of STEM pathways for students beyond high school.
