Celebrating 75 Years of the GI Bill
The Missouri Department of Higher Education is partnering with the Missouri Veterans Commission and the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, in a nationwide movement to celebrate the impact of the GI Bill.
The Servicemen’s Readjustment Act of 1944, commonly known as the GI Bill, was signed June 22, 1944, creating a new educational benefits program for veterans. Over the past 75 years, the GI Bill has impacted the lives of more than 25 million beneficiaries, including thousands of Missourians. MDHE has compiled stories of GI Bill recipients in an effort to commemorate this significant program.
