MDHEWD partners with Missouri Treasurer for America Saves Week

The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development (MDHEWD) is partnering with the Missouri State Treasurer’s Office to promote America Saves Week.

America Saves Week is an annual call to action for Americans to save for the future. America Saves Week begins today and runs through Saturday, Feb. 27.

Throughout the week, MDHEWD will promote smart savings for Missouri families, as well as provide budgeting and savings tips for high school and college students to help set them on a firm financial footing.

“Planning ahead for education and training-related expenses can help minimize barriers to achieving career goals,” said Zora Mulligan, Commissioner of Higher Education. “America Saves Week is a great opportunity to remind ourselves and each other of the tools and resources available to help navigate that process and set us up for financial success.”

Each day, MDHEWD and the Treasurer’s Office will use social media to promote the importance of personal savings and highlight tools to help Missourians achieve their financial goals.

“America Saves Week is the perfect opportunity for us to partner with the Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development to spread awareness about the importance of saving money,” Missouri Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick said. “With our MO ABLE and MOST 529 plans, as well as our Financial Literacy Portal, the Missouri State Treasurer's Office offers tools to help Missourians save their hard-earned money and plan for a stronger financial future."

Posts from MDHEWD can be found on the Journey to College social media pages, @Journey2College on Twitter and Instagram, and @JourneytoCollege on Facebook.

MDHEWD also provides free publications about planning and paying for college, including a budgeting workbook found online at journeytocollege.mo.gov.
