College programs highlighted by visit from Commissioner Mulligan, Governor Parson

Commissioner of Higher Education Zora Mulligan and Missouri Governor Mike Parson visited three public colleges throughout Missouri on Friday, Aug. 23, to highlight the new Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant. The Focus on Fast Track events were held at Metropolitan Community College, Missouri State University-West Plains, and Ozarks Technical Community College.

The Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant will help adults earn a certificate, degree, or industry-recognized credential. The grant is also designed to fill skills gaps in Missouri; Fast Track helps students enroll in approved programs identified as high-need.

“There are so many great programs across Missouri that qualify for Fast Track,” Mulligan said. “Whether this is someone’s first time enrolling, or they started but never finished, Fast Track can be a great way to earn their credential.”

Commissioner Mulligan and Governor Parson began the day in Kansas City, visiting the Business and Technology campus of Metropolitan Community College. An event was held later at MSU-West Plains, highlighting the school’s Greater Ozarks Center for Advanced Technology. A final stop at Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield, highlighted the Emergency Medical Services Lab.

“Part of these visits across the state is to challenge Missourians to take advantage of this grant,” Mulligan said. “Sometimes all people need is a little encouragement to take that first step – I’m challenging folks to tell their friends, their families. Fast Track has the potential to change lives, so we want as many people to know about it as possible.”
