Doug Kennedy has been selected to serve as chair of the Coordinating Board for Higher Education for 2018.
“It is a privilege to serve on the Coordinating Board and an honor to be chair,” Kennedy said. “I look forward to continuing our work to strengthen Missouri’s higher education system and increase educational opportunities for all Missourians.”
Kennedy had been vice chair of the board until September when he assumed the role of chair for the remainder of the year following the resignation of Dr. Carolyn Mahoney, who moved out of state and could no longer serve on the board.
Kennedy, an attorney from Poplar Bluff, was first appointed to the board in December 2013.
The board also selected Mike Thomson, Maryville, to serve as vice chair and Sam Murphey, St. Louis, to serve as secretary. Thomson is marketing and development director for the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri. Murphey is an external affairs lead for the Monsanto Company.
