State departments working to update and streamline rules to improve efficiency
The Missouri Department of Higher Education invites the public to offer input on administrative rules that establish regulations for a number of department operations, including state student financial aid, student residency requirements and degree program approval.
The goal of the review is to identify and update rules in the Missouri Code of State Regulations to improve department efficiency.
The public can view and comment on rules related to the Department of Higher Education at dhe.mo.gov/about/legislative/rulereview.php. The deadline for submitting comments is Aug. 31.
“Providing an opportunity for the public to comment on administrative rules is an important part of the review process as we work to streamline state regulations to better serve Missourians,” said Zora Mulligan, Missouri commissioner of higher education.
A public hearing will be held in September to give interested Missourians an opportunity to comment on the rules in person. An “electronic public hearing” also is being planned. Details about those hearings will be announced in August.
The rule review is being held in accordance with Executive Order 17-03, issued earlier this year by Gov. Eric Greitens.
